Too big for the space; too cute not to use

too cute not to use

Our friends, Anne and Errol, were inundated with crock pots at their wedding.  Well, Jeff and I were inundated with party platters and serving ware.  We love ’em but Jeff and I are quickly realizing we don’t host enough parties nor have enough cupboard space (currently) for all that we got.  Well, this one was super cute and I wanted to put it it use so I set it up tonight as a make-up/beauty stand in our “guest” (read: main) bathroom.  It’s entirely too large for the space (it overhangs the sink by about an inch!) but I love how it neatly organizes my things.

When we move, the bathroom counter will be even smaller, which bums me out, but I also have a plan to keep my dresser cleaner* so hopefully this can live on my dresser in the new place.

*My mom taught me not to wash clothes until they’re dirty, so, since I work in an office environment, I’ll wear clothes 2-3x before I wash them but I won’t put them back in the closet.  I fold them** and lay them neatly** on my dresser.

**They get tossed however they land and I just hope they don’t wrinkle.

The plan for the new place is to hang towel racks or jacket hooks on the wall near the dressers so that I can hang the clothes up without hanging them in the closet.  I’m *really* hopeful this plan works out so that our bedroom can be tidy 🙂

Do you have any creative cleaning/organizing tips? Feel free to share in the comments below.

Wedding Planning Update

If you’re interested in a twitter-type tracking of my food and fitness, please check out my other blog: http://megsfitnessphototracker.wordpress.com  I update meals as I have them (when I can) and post day-end totals.

So, my own wedding is pretty much planned and now it’s all down to execution.  We’ve got exactly two months left until The Big Day.  Two months from now, we will have had the couple’s shower, the rehearsal dinner, and I’ll be kicking Jeff out of the house for the day/night so that we can have our Bachelor/ette parties on the Saturday before the wedding.

My goodness.  So much fun.

Sephora-Make-UpSephora-Make-Up2

This last Saturday, my mom and I actually headed out to Sephora for make-overs.  I wanted to try on a wedding look and this dramatic smokey-eye is what they came up with.  The pictures seriously do not do it justice.  The lashes are my own but they were enhanced so much by the mascara and the liquid eye-liner.  I don’t like the way the foundation looks in the pictures so I did not buy into that, but I definitely snatched up the liquid eye-liner.  If only it came in water-proof because that stuff smudged at the tiniest provocation.  It’ll be *gone* by the end of the wedding ceremony, lol!

Speaking of wedding stuff… My fabulous sister has schemed with my grandma to throw a couple’s wedding shower for Jeff and I.  That’s coming up on Sunday and I’m super excited.  We were excited AND perplexed when boxes from Target started showing up in the mail randomly.

Cat-in-the-boxThe cats were also thrilled.  Taz has been attacking the packing stuffs and diving into the boxes like no one’s business.  Toby has been tentative as usual =P  We’ve got some stamps left over from mailing the invitations, so we’re able to be pretty quick about sending thank-you cards back through the mail.  It’s been really fun checking the mail every day because it’s like opening a gift–sometimes there’s an RSVP in there and we get to think about all the wonderful people we’ll get to reunite with in just a couple short months.  At least it’s something to look forward to amid all this mucky-muck:

This is the homework police – step away from the internet!!

Facebook, pinterest, iwastesomuchtime.com, sparkpeople, gmail, pinterest, facebook, oriental trading catalogue, youtube, wordpress…

Nope, I don’t have trouble focusing at. all. …

At least I got it together long enough to dye my hair yesterday.  The highlights were positively atrocious by the time I bought the box and fixed it.  Originally I got the highlights to impress my fiance because he was going to be in the company of comparably more-beautiful women and I wanted to show a little effort.  The subtle caramel highlights that I *asked* for, though, had turned into crazy brassy blonde streaks..

Huh. Twenty minutes later and I’ve got cellphone, facebook, sourcefed, gmail, mspaint, and now back to WordPress.  How’s that studying going?

Oh, yes. I love my “new” (old) hair.  It’s back to my “natural” hair color and I was turning heads at work today.  “There’s something… different… about you…You just seem prettier.”

Anyway.. Work is.. work.  Very busy/frustrating today.  My weekend went very well–most of it was spent watching Buffy The Vampire Slayer on Netflix with Jeff.  It’d tough to switch from that show to Ringer.. Sarah Michelle Gellar is such a great actress, though, that I can distinguish Buffy from Siobhan from Bridget-playing-Siobhan from Bridget-playing-herself (played by Sarah Michelle Gellar).  Have you seen that show?  It’s pretty good.  Also on Netflix.

The switch back to standard time is helping me to get my sleeping back on track.  Except for the fact that it’s supposed to be 10:30pm according to my internal clock and I’m just kind of wired.  Of course, that might be due to the five laffy taffy’s I just had about 20 minutes ago…

I’m really just off track.  I need to get my sleeping in order so that I can get my fitness in order and if those two fall in line then eating will fall in line naturally.  And then, maybe I can better focus.  And sleep.  And write.

Thanks for reading.  I am sure I will come up with something better for you soon 🙂

OH!

Here’s something better – the latest screenshot from GW2.  There was a halloween event.. I was a ghost–best costume evar.
